The Shaman’s Horse is the practice of artist and shamanic practitioner Sean Ryan, offering art, tarot readings, oracle decks, ceremonial drums and earth-based spiritual guidance rooted in the Celtic animist tradition.
About Sean
I’ve been walking between worlds my entire life.
Since 1997, I’ve been reading tarot for people everywhere from Tokyo hotel rooms to galleries in Greece. I’ve been on a shamanic path since childhood, completing four years of training in sweat lodge practice held in the Celtic tradition, and studying Druidry for over a decade.
For thirty years, I worked in commercial creative practice – graduating from the Royal College of Art and working with major brands and musicians including Led Zeppelin, Paul Smith, and Rough Trade Records. But throughout those three decades, I was simultaneously developing my spiritual practice. Running drum circles, offering tarot and shamanic healing sessions, exhibiting visionary artwork across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
The thing is, I don’t fit the typical shamanic practitioner stereotype. I do own a poncho, but I don’t often wear it if I’m honest with you. I look like a teacher, apparently. But I’ve done extensive psychopomp work, I work directly with spirits, hold genuine ceremony, and create healing artwork that emerges from that connection.
Around 2020, my path turned fully toward soul-centered, earth-based practice. I’d trained with leading shamanic teachers in classic techniques, and the calling to focus entirely on this work became impossible to ignore. I don’t just teach these practices – I’ve lived them through decades of real-world challenges, losses, and transformations.
I’m based in North Wales. This is where my practice is rooted – in the actual earth, in genuine relationship with land and spirits. With Irish and English heritage and Welsh upbringing, my connection to Celtic traditions and the spirits of these islands runs deep.
With nearly three decades of intuitive practice, I work with whatever combination of shamanic journeying, astrology, tarot, and artwork your particular journey calls for – sometimes all of them, sometimes just one or two.
I create oracle decks, make ceremonial drums using my self-developed glazing technique, and run workshops including “Drawing from the Well” – exploring the creative flow between art, animism, and intuition.
I’ve just completed a ten-year oracle deck project – The Oracle of Animal Soul Medicine. No AI, no shortcuts, just genuine channeled guidance that emerged from direct spiritual experience. Because that’s what this work actually requires: time, depth, and authentic connection.
